What are the Rules

Like most games the rules are constantly evolving. We will do our best to keep you updated when a rule has changed.

The Opening:

Before the actual game begins, there is a gathering at the center of the court where each player has to stick their right hand in a huddle. The most recent victor gets to call 1-2-3 and then one of the following phrases is shouted by all players : "Squiggly Ball" "Let's Squiggle". At times if a player is out due to injury, a brief 5 second moment of silence will be held in respect.

The Game:

The object of the game is to kick the ball at other opponents. It is very similar to "dodgeball" but with kicking as the way of moving the ball. All areas of the body are targetable except the bottom of the foot. This is the only spot of the body that is strike-free.

When handling the ball, you can only dribble (move the ball) around with the bottom of your foot. You can kick with your toes or any part of the foot, but ball handling is only done with the bottom of the foot.

Your foot is considered strike free when you are making a kick like motion towards the ball.

Each opponent starts off with 3 lives. When you get hit below the waste that is one strike, so you're left w/ 2 strikes. If you get hit above the waist that is worth 2 strikes. If you get hit in the head (anywhere above the neck) it is considered a "Kill Shot" and that person automatically has 3 strikes.

Penalty box/ Time Out - When you get 3 strikes you are left in the penalty box for 1 minute. When the minute is up, you can go back into the game and continue the game as if you had 2 strikes. If you absorb another strike, you are out for the remainder of the game.

Catching the ball- If someone kicked the ball into the air, opponents have the oppurtunity to catch the ball to give the kicker a strike. If the person mishandles the ball with their hands and drops it, they are given 2 strikes due to their hands being above the waist. If a player gets hit with the ball and they catch it before it hits the ground, it is a strike for the person who kicked it.

The Discovery of Squiggly Ball

They say that Sir Isaac Newton was sitting under an apple tree when all of a sudden an apple fell from a branch and bopped him on the head. This lead to the discovery of gravity and how it works. Sometimes man's greatest discoveries were accidental, just ask Christopher Columbus. Well... hundreds of years later here we find ourselves in a similar situation. Another great discovery has been made/invented. The discovery of SQUIGGLY BALL. Squiggly Ball began when Daniel walked into the break room one day holding a stress ball. As he entered the room, he saw that Kat had her back turned as she was reaching for something in the fridge. Daniel, always thinking on his toes dropped the ball and kicked it towards Kat. Kat, not named for her Cat like reflexes although her parents might have been foreshadowing her great dodging skills, stepped aside and the ball flew right by her. This is where fate took it's turn. She lined up the ball and aimed back at Daniel hitting him on his ankle. As I mentioned before, Daniel is a bit of a genius so he said, "ah that's one strike on me." and kicked the ball at Kat again. Kat again dodged and kicked the ball and it lead to a 10 minute battle that ended with Kat winning. Upon exiting the break room, they realized this was no ordinary break room. It had become THE ARENA and Squiggly Ball was born.
